Infosys - Living An Indian Dream

Before I begin I must clarify that I am in no way related to Infosys. I never worked for it nor do I own any of its equity. It is my account of what I know as a common Indian. Infosys as an organization commands a high respect in every sense one can think of. Being an Indian I am really proud of it. What is great about Infosys is not that its founders converted 250 dollars into the billion dollar behemoth it is today but the value system it has preserved over the years.
Recently I was reading an interesting account on highly successful companies which have lasted more than a century. The author concluded that all of those companies share among them a total dedication to their values. They held onto them even in odd times and were ready to give up their profits for it. It gave them the agility to survive the ever changing business paradigms. In this competitive world of deceit, lie and profit mongers how is it possible to hold on to some idealistic principles? But I guess organizations are like humans each with a unique character and personality. It has its own set of values which may reflect the outlook of their founders or managers. Over the period of time it assimilates into the organizational behavior and reflects in every task it performs. I am sure times must have tested Infosys to give up their value system but their persistence with it has taken them where they are. It is really built to last. I hope it will continue to persist with its value system and will outlive many technological changes and business cycles.

They are living the Indian dream! We are all proud of it..

Why are you so nice?

Have you even been treated unequally? If yes then you can relate to what it feels when you can't stand up to someone. It is not only humiliating but wipes out your self esteem completely. I feel the same when I can't stand up to you and feel burdened by your mammoth persona. Why you have to be so nice to me? I really don't deserve it. I have always believed in equality of human potential. So I never felt smaller just because one drives a bigger car than me or takes home a fatter salary check. In totality my potential is as good as anyone else so if there is a difference its there in application. I always believed in fair competition so always treated my adversaries the same way they should be. I never thought they are of smaller stature and deserve my mercy or charity in any way so even if they loose out they will have their dignity. But when it comes to you I don't know why you have been treating me unfairly. When in response to my nasty behavior you maintain your cal...

Morality..

Have you ever pondered why is morality necessary in life? Why our parents want us to be truthful, honest and humble. Why do we hate liars and hypocrites? Why there are numerous stories about the virtue of Good and how every time good wins over the evil in the long run. Are we good because there is an almighty god looking over us and we will be burnt in hell if we do something bad. Are people in general good because they are afraid of God. To me we are more good than evil because that is a logical thing to do. "Good" here i must emphasize symbolizes the greater good of our civilization and human race. It may be relative on an individual basis but on a macro scale being good or having all the positive qualities we hear about is logical and in fact very necessary for the very survival. Imagine a world where its OK to rob your neighbor and bring home their money and goods. With the same logic it should also be OK when one of our neighbors mugged us up. You can clearly visualize ...

Its my Life

Whats the best way to lead a life? We hear and read a lot about it everywhere. People from different walks of life have a different take on it. An optimist will tell you to risk and be adventurous, a pessimist will tell you to be vary of bad times and always look for security, a youngster will tell us to live life king size, whereas the seasoned uncle will tell us to cherish every moment. So it is pretty much clear that its almost impossible to follow everything as at times it is so confusing if we are to live with a specified philosophy of life. I believe as we grow up we take much from our environment and it shapes our behavior but deep down inside there is something which is unique to us. It may not be very obvious but it is there nevertheless. Life is about sharing this common world with our friends, with neighbors, with every living being around, with deep blue seas and lush green grasslands, the lofty mountains and the hot deserts, the infinite stretch of the cosmos and that hid...
