Faith..

Faith is blind I hear...Either you have it or don't.. there is no middle way. Faith can be on anything or on anyone. People feel when they have faith they don't need reason..and faith in itself is the beginning and the end. But if we look closely our faith depends on what people around us have faith in. Humans like most species need care and support from their parents and we naturally build a very strong bond with them and their faiths and beliefs comes to us naturally. We go by the notion that somethings have worked for them and so they are to be taken as a rule. As we grow our inquisitive mind becomes skeptic of various ideologies that we inherit.

Sometimes we are too busy to question them and continue with them as they are. These with time becomes rules which we may not have any reason for but believe in them subconsciously.
These ultimately leads to blind faith and superstitions. If we look closely it is easy to have faith on concepts which are based on reason. Like I will have 100% faith that if i throw a ball up it will fall down as gravity is at work. However I don't have any reason to believe that if I visit a temple before exam I am going to get lucky with it. Its sad but in most human cultures "GOD" is considered something which is beyond reason. Its just the faith you have to live with.

I agree that human reasoning may not be adequate at this point to discuss and describe God if there is one looking at us. But why believe in something which is beyond reason. Can we wait till things are proved beyond reasonable doubt. Well its your choice to have blind faith if it helps you in some way as far as I am concerned I know what to believe in...

It all depends on how one looks at it.

I find it amusing that yesterday I was writing a post (not yet published) on similar lines and today I read your post on the same.

Once again, I am amazed. Yeah, it's amazing how for some people faith is just blind. They are So sure that a Higher Power will sort Everything out, that they won't lift a finger to help themselves even and for the rest of the time, they crib and hold onto their superstitions aimlessly.

Faith is important. For faith leads us to hope. Hope is what truly keeps us alive. But questioning what's presented to us, or what we go through in life, just helps us to make better sense of things around us, increasing our faith in ourselves as we see Reason.

Cheers,

Why are you so nice?

Have you even been treated unequally? If yes then you can relate to what it feels when you can't stand up to someone. It is not only humiliating but wipes out your self esteem completely. I feel the same when I can't stand up to you and feel burdened by your mammoth persona. Why you have to be so nice to me? I really don't deserve it. I have always believed in equality of human potential. So I never felt smaller just because one drives a bigger car than me or takes home a fatter salary check. In totality my potential is as good as anyone else so if there is a difference its there in application. I always believed in fair competition so always treated my adversaries the same way they should be. I never thought they are of smaller stature and deserve my mercy or charity in any way so even if they loose out they will have their dignity. But when it comes to you I don't know why you have been treating me unfairly. When in response to my nasty behavior you maintain your cal...

Morality..

Have you ever pondered why is morality necessary in life? Why our parents want us to be truthful, honest and humble. Why do we hate liars and hypocrites? Why there are numerous stories about the virtue of Good and how every time good wins over the evil in the long run. Are we good because there is an almighty god looking over us and we will be burnt in hell if we do something bad. Are people in general good because they are afraid of God. To me we are more good than evil because that is a logical thing to do. "Good" here i must emphasize symbolizes the greater good of our civilization and human race. It may be relative on an individual basis but on a macro scale being good or having all the positive qualities we hear about is logical and in fact very necessary for the very survival. Imagine a world where its OK to rob your neighbor and bring home their money and goods. With the same logic it should also be OK when one of our neighbors mugged us up. You can clearly visualize ...

Its my Life

Whats the best way to lead a life? We hear and read a lot about it everywhere. People from different walks of life have a different take on it. An optimist will tell you to risk and be adventurous, a pessimist will tell you to be vary of bad times and always look for security, a youngster will tell us to live life king size, whereas the seasoned uncle will tell us to cherish every moment. So it is pretty much clear that its almost impossible to follow everything as at times it is so confusing if we are to live with a specified philosophy of life. I believe as we grow up we take much from our environment and it shapes our behavior but deep down inside there is something which is unique to us. It may not be very obvious but it is there nevertheless. Life is about sharing this common world with our friends, with neighbors, with every living being around, with deep blue seas and lush green grasslands, the lofty mountains and the hot deserts, the infinite stretch of the cosmos and that hid...
